New Document This issue is the first in nine years without Ian McGillis as co-editor. Ian's work in attracting young writers and reviewers is immeasurable, and his editing skills have added to the high quality of the mRb over the years. Ian arrived in Montreal from Edmonton after the ice storm of 1998, and worked at The Word Bookstore for a time. He contacted Kimberly Bourgeois, then editor of the mRb, about a job as editorial assistant, and in a short time made himself invaluable. In his time at the mRb his novel A Tourist's Guide to Glengarry was published by Porcupine's Quill, and Ian started writing for The Gazette, among others. We wish him well in all his new endeavours.

Andrea Belcham, the current editorial associate, comes from a writer/editor/magazine background. Anyone who has worked with Andrea knows how wonderful and talented she is.

And "Raise the Profile," a joint project of the QWF and the AELAQ, is helping to let librarians, booksellers, and readers in the rest of Canada know about the vibrant literary scene happening in English-speaking Quebec. The spokesperson, saucy librarian Ms. Julie, has picked several titles as her personal favourites, and we have them labelled as "Ms. Julie recommends." Enjoy the fall reading. MG
New Document We wish to thank the Canada Council for the Arts, the Department of Canadian Heritage and SODEC for their generous support, without which this publication could not exist.
